I got an email from Scion a couple of days ago regarding leasing an FR-S. $2,500 down, $250/month, 36 months, 12,000 miles/year. So, after 3 years, you've paid $11,500 and we'll assume that you have exactly 36,000 miles on the car.

So, if the car costs $25,000 (let's assume no tax, delivery charges, etc), after 3 years that leaves you at $13,500. If after 3 years that car is only worth $13,500, I'd be pretty disappointed. If a car depreciates at a rate of 15% per year, that'd only bring the car down to $15,300, but I would expect a Scion to perform a little better in the depreciation department.

I've never done a lease before, don't fully understand how they work or if they're substantially different across makes and models, but I can't see why anyone would lease the FR-S with those terms? What am I missing?
